Green School: sustainable
Make the school a driver of impact
Prevent school dropout
Create local jobs
Self-sufficient model
Since 2012, Wallah We Can has been developing entrepreneurial and ecological solutions to improve children's living and learning conditions. With GreenSchool, we implemented an innovative model in a boarding middle school in Makthar (Siliana governorate), based on energy autonomy and food self-sufficiency.
The generated benefits are reinvested in school infrastructure and educational activities, while creating jobs for parents—in the fields, kitchens or maintenance—thus strengthening local impact in solidarity.
One school, four pillars of change
To become a GreenSchool, each institution can engage in a labeling process around 4 essential axes, aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
Student Health
Ensure access to quality care and promote healthy lifestyle habits for all students.
Inclusive Education
Offer a learning environment adapted to each child's needs, fostering personal development.
Sustainable Food
Develop a self-sufficient school canteen producing nutritious and environmentally friendly meals.
Renewable Energy
Implement clean and sustainable energy solutions for the institution's autonomy.
The GreenSchool pillars are designed to address major challenges of the Tunisian education system while creating a model of an autonomous and sustainable school that can be replicated elsewhere.
